Event Description

Hanukkah is an eight-day Jewish festival commemorating the rededication of the Second Temple in Jerusalem at the time of the Maccabean Revolt against the Seleucid Empire. The significance of this event lies in the fact that it coincided with the highest religious season for Israel, Passover. Therefore, Hanukkah is also known as the Festival of Lights since oil for lighting was scarce during this historical period. Come join us for this largest Hanukkah celebration in York County, where we light our candles, enjoy each other's company, and make new friends during the holiday season. The origin of Hanukkah dates back to the ancient times when Jewish people were oppressed under the Greek Seleucid empire. The Maccabees rebelled against their oppressors, defeated them, and reclaimed their religious freedom in the land of Israel. We can learn many things from Hanukkah: appreciation of freedom of worship, a reminder that we must stand up to oppression, and how miracles can exist even in our mundane world today. This year's theme is "Ignite Your Light." Let Hanukkah be a celebration of your greatness and the uniqueness that makes the Founded in Truth Fellowship community special. So bring your brightest smile, outfit (and car if you want), and light one more candle in traditional Hanukkah fashion - Ignite Your Light - A Community Hanukkah Celebration!
